Summary/Abstract: Russia and Turkey reacted to the political turbulence in the Arab world largely in a manner consistent with the bedrock foreign policy approaches that have been reengineered by them over the recent years. As for Russia, the most challenging task it faced was to produce a new system of priorities that would resonate with the reality following the disintegration of the USSR and a collapse of the bipolar world structure. The conceptual fundamentals of the foreign policy adopted by a contemporary Turkey have appeared to show signs of noticeable change since the early 2000s. As the credibility of the pro-Islamic Justice and Development Party (AKP in Turkish), who came to power in 2002, enhanced, it had a bearing on the AKP‟s perception as a political force of a new type, and therefore a change of foreign policy guidelines was objectively required to sustain its success and good governance practices.
