Summary/Abstract: The People’s Association of Germans in Hungary (Volksbund) was founded in November 1938 as the organization representing the interests of the German minority in Hungary. Little is known about the operation of the Volksbund in Transcarpathia. In academic works dealing with the history of the region between 1938 and 1944, the Transcarpathian German minority and the Volksbund are just briefly mentioned most of the times. In the course of this study, we undertook to examine the organizational efforts and activities of the Volksbund in the territories which returned in 1938 and 1939 with the help of the State Archives of the Transcarpathian Region and other available sources.
