Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the linkages between humancapital and employment in high-tech sectors and their im-pacts on economic growth, considering the overall level ofinnovation in both the public and private sectors and ex-ploring the role of gender. The analysis employs dynamicordinary least squares (DOLS) to estimate a model for theEU-27 across the period 2008–2021. The results indicatethat employment in high-tech sectors is the variable thatmost contributes to economic growth in those countriesthat are leaders in innovation. However, in these countries,a positive and significant effect of the gender gap in em-ployment is observed.
