Summary/Abstract: This article provides an overview of the most interesting episode of 1917 on the Romanian Front on the Danube, the sinking of the Austro-Hungarian river monitor Inn, based on unpublished archival sources. In this article, the author examines in detail the sinking of the Inn caused by running into a contact mine, using the original reports on the event, the following inquiry conducted by the Austro-Hungarian Navy, and the salvage of the monitor. The article also takes a closer look at the myths surrounding the sinking.
