Summary/Abstract: It has become very common for parents to post photos and videos of their children on social media sites. When does the compulsion of parents to share their children become sharenting? Is it even possible to define what exactly this term means? In this paper, sharenting is examined from the perspective of children’s privacy rights. Although the topic has a number of implications for the field of family law, it will be dealt with only to the extent necessary due to the limitations of the scope. In order to analyse the phenomenon, the concept is first examined and then the regulatory framework for children’s rights to privacy, in particular their right to private life, is outlined. In this respect, some data protection issues will be addressed in addition to what can be considered as classical challenges in the field of privacy law. Finally, relevant foreign case law and regulatory models are presented, which may serve as a model for future domestic legislation.
