Summary/Abstract: In the research we focused on how Michael Biggins translated metaphors in Drago Jančar’s famous novel I Saw Her That Night (To noč sem jo videl) from Slovene into English. The translation was released in 2016. When analyzing translations of metaphors, we used strategies suggested by Peter Newmark. The analysis demonstrated that in most cases when rendering metaphors the translator recreated similar images as in the original, occasionally using omission, combining a metaphor with its sense and converting a metaphor to its sense. In some cases, Biggins also used a standard equivalent in the target language, replacing a metaphorical one.
