Summary/Abstract: Artificial intelligence tools have created a pedagogical revolution in the field of foreign language teaching and learning. Their integration is a real pedagogical opportunity because of the advantages they offer, both for the teacher and the learner. It is in this context that our reflection is taking place. It focuses on optimizing the use of ChatGPT, as a teaching assistant for learners in French as a foreign language classroom. We postulate that, when used well, ChatGPT can act as a virtual tutor, helping learners strengthen their writing skills. Our contribution aims to explore the contributions of ChatGPT in improving writing practices. We rely on a study carried out at the University of Biskra (Algeria), with a classroom of master's students, as part of a module dedicated to writing practices. The students first wrote a summary of a text, then used ChatGPT to identify and analyze errors in their productions. They then revised their summaries taking into account the suggestions and corrections provided by the tool. Analysis of the data collected revealed the positive impact of ChatGPT on student progress and motivation. The encouraging results open up new perspectives for the integration of AI in the teaching and learning of FFL.
