The Masnavi on Isa (Jesus), Peace be upon Him

Summary/Abstract: This work is an unpublished manuscript of a lecture delivered by the Tuzla qadi, masnavihan, Sheikh Ahmed-effendi Mešić, at a gathering held in honor of the night dedicated to Jesus, peace be upon him (Laylat al-Isawiyya), on December 31, 1993, in Tuzla, in the Slavinovići neighborhood, at the home of the late Mustafa Ajdaslić. The idea for writing this lecture originated from the late Sheikh Mehmed-effendi Hafizović, who, in the early 1990s, initiated such gatherings during so-called New Year’s Eve nights. These events coincided with the European calendar’s symbolic beginning, which is linked to the presumed date of birth of God’s messenger, Jesus son of Mary, marking the farewell of the old and the arrival of the new year.
