Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the life, work, and influence of Sheikh Ahmed effendi Mešić (1916–1994), a Sharia judge and professor of Islamic Oriental languages. It offers a brief overview of his biography, education, spiritual journey, and the usul (methodology) he adhered to, with particular emphasis on his written legacy and the final five years of his life, during which he publicly acted as a Sufi sheikh and Masnavihan. The most significant aspects of his work are highlighted—those that were, and continue to be, an important contribution to spiritual awakening and renewal in the environment in which he lived and worked, as well as far beyond. Through his piety, behavior, intellectual pursuits, approach to tasawwuf (Sufism) and tariqa (Sufi order) activities, appearance, effort, and work, he provided us with a lesson and a lasting model of how a Muslim, in his own time and environment, should essentially follow the Qur’an and the practice of Muhammad, peace be upon him.
