Summary/Abstract: Valeriu Literat’s work, „Three Hundred Years in the Life of the Romanian Tanners’ Guild of Făgăraș. 1643-1943”, preserved in manuscript form in the family archive, is considered by researchers of the Făgăraș region to be one of the most thoroughly documented works by the self-taught professor and researcher. The tanners’ guild was one of the most cohesive in Făgăraș, managing to endure for three hundred years. Literat’s study presents the guild’s craftsmen, along with the obligations and rights they held within the craft association. The study also describes the tanners’ ties to the church, as well as their relations with princes or the city’s leadership. This presentation is part of the doctoral thesis dedicated to the life and work of Valeriu Literat.
