Summary/Abstract: This article traces the path proposed by Jacques Maritain in the philosophy of "integral humanism" to highlight its features, considered telling for today's reader. It brings under the reader's close scrutiny a model of man proposed by the author and also a model of education: integral education. In a society that cultivates, consciously and unconsciously, an increasingly sectoral perception of man and the Universe where disorientation and isolation grow, Maritain proposes a theoretical-practical vision of philosophy, education and culture. History, mater et magister, the author tells us, offers the post-modern reader a multi-colored experience in which he can reflect on himself and learn the art of "being". This requires a deeply human and spiritual attitude, at the same time, that of attention. Attention requires self-knowledge, first of all, the re-knowledge of the other as well and, finally, peaceful co-existence in the "common home". This peaceful co-existence does not mean passivity, it is a form of heroism, in the author's vision. Each era has proposed a new model of philosophy and education: which is the best for today, the author seems to be asking himself. The one that takes into account the person as a whole, as Thomas Aquinas said in 1300: mind, soul and body.
