Summary/Abstract: Humour is a fundamental element of our daily lives and the development of our relationships. Internet memes act as a direct conduit for linking these aspects, uniquely merging entertainment with social interaction, particularly among Generation Z. This study examines the meme consumption habits of Hungarian Generation Z in Romania from 2021 to 2023, as well as the global meme trends from 2020 to 2022. Special attention is given to the evolution of meme forms, focusing on their appearance platforms, formats, graphic elements, categories, and content. The investigation engaged the same age group at two different times, enabling a detailed examination of the shifts in meme culture and consumption over the period. The findings clearly reveal significant transformations in both the form and consumption of memes, reflecting the dynamic evolution of digital culture.
