THE INFLUENCE OF E. HUSSERL'S PHENOMENOLOGY ON THE THINKING OF THE NOVELIST CAMIL PETRESCU

Summary/Abstract: In this study I analyze the reception of Husserl's philosophy by the Romanian novelist Camil Petrescu, in the years between the Two World Wars. The interpretation focuses first on the reception in Camil's philosophical and theoretical texts, impressed by the new method of knowledge proposed by Husserl. Then, the very lively dialogue of Camil Petrescu's Romanian thought with Huesserl's phenomenology is studied, in the extremely original discourse of the novel Patul lui Procust (Procust's Bed). Camil Petrescu manages to go through and even surpass Husserl's phenomenological project, in the surprising fabric of interpersonal relationships evoked in this novel, of great impact in the history of Romanian literature. The study aims to focus on the spiritual crisis of the person in 1930, revealed by Camil Petrescu in his novel, following the (surpassed) influence of Husserl's phenomenology.
