Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is the issue of continuity of power within the institution of the prime minister. The author analyzes constitutional solutions and their implementation in political practice through the prism of maintaining the continuity of power. The article is based on a comparative analysis of constitutional solutions and political practice in three countries with an identical model and type of party system: the United Kingdom, Malta and Barbados (all of them are Westminster democracies with a weak constitutional position of the head of state and a strong prime minister and a two-party party system).
