Summary/Abstract: Millions of pages, numerous scientific books and textbooks have been written on communication and its history. The literature on this important subject is rich and inexhaustible. Since this history is still unfolding and has a direct impact on all aspects of human life, new pages will continue to be written in the future. This paper provides a brief overview of the history of communication, structured around five information revolutions, from prehistory and early civilizations to the present day, which is marked by the challenges of the digital era and issues such as privacy, surveillance, and the fragmentation of information.
