Summary/Abstract: Sultan Mahmud II was the first Ottoman sultan to go on domestic trips to listen to the problems of the people on the spot in order to strengthen statesociety relations within the framework of modern state understanding. Sultan Mehmed Reşad also organized various trips during his reign in order to solve the problems faced by the Ottoman Empire in its internal affairs and to strengthen the citizens' loyalty to the state. The most important of these trips was the Rumelia trip between June 5-26, 1911. This trip was organized in order to end the unrest in the Rumelia region and to strengthen the loyalty of other ethnic groups, especially Albanians, to the state. Sultan Mehmed Reşad's Rumelia trip was followed with interest by the local and foreign press, and the Tanin Newspaper reported the preparations made for the sultan's return from Rumelia to its readers in detail. What made the Tanin Newspaper different from other newspapers was that it reported the preparation stages in detail to its readers. This can be understood from the interest shown in the Tanin Newspaper by the readers who followed the sultan's trip closely. In this study, the preparations and welcoming ceremonies for Sultan Mehmed Reşad's return to Istanbul after his Rumelia trip are analysed from the perspective of Tanin Newspaper, and the public perception of the news and announcements made within the framework of the political, social and cultural dynamics of the period is emphasized. In this respect, the reflections of the preparations in Istanbul on Tanin Newspaper, the announcements, news and articles written by the writers in the newspaper are analysed in detail and evaluated in terms of the relations between the press, politics and society.
