Summary/Abstract: One of the most complicated international issues of the 20th century is undoubtedly the Israeli-Palestinian issue. This issue is among the important international issues of the Islamic world. Because Israel’s occupation and domination of Palestinian lands is known as the source of many flaws and problems in the Islamic world. After the Ottoman Empire, the ruler of this region of the Middle East, was defeated in World War I, the Great Britain took control of the region known as Palestine. When the international community gave the Great Britain the task of establishing a ‘national homeland’ for the Jewish people in Palestine, tensions between the two countries increased even more. As tensions accelerated over the years, solutions were sought for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The Oslo negotiations, which began in 1993, were an important turning point in the conflict, in which Israel and Palestine unsuccessfully negotiated to reach a mutual agreement. According to the Oslo Accords, Israel and Palestine agreed to officially recognize each other and renounce the use of violence. Following the failure of the Oslo II peace process in 1995, the paths to peace came to a standstill when the Second Intifada, also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada, broke out in 2000. This article argues that the Arab-Israeli conflict, and particularly the Palestinian issue, has been the main topic of regional concern in the Middle East for over a century. It has emerged that it would be useful to critically review the Oslo “peace process” and its failure to achieve a just and sustainable peace within the framework of the UN.
