Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of implementing pedagogical theories into educational practice, highlighting the tension between the academic sphere and the daily realities of teachers’ work. It discusses the functions of pedagogical theories and identifies barriers to their implementation, including the shock of entering the teaching profession, the traditions prevailing in specific institutions, routine approaches to tasks, fear of failure, and work overload. The conclusion proposes action research as a means to integrate theory and practice, emphasizing its potential to generate knowledge that is relevant and useful in educational realities. Such research fosters reflection on practice, enhances teachers’ competencies, and boosts motivation for change, which can contribute to improving the quality of education in the face of contemporary challenges.
