Summary/Abstract: Purpose: This study examines the level of social media jealousy in romantic relationships among university students and its relationship with various demographic variables. The aim of the research is to reveal the impact of social media use on romantic relationships within the framework of social media jealousy. The study was conducted with 332 undergraduate students enrolled at a state university in Turkey. Participants were administered the “Social Media Jealousy Scale in Romantic Relationships,” which includes sub-dimensions measuring jealousy experienced in social media environments. Method: The research is quantitative and descriptive in nature. Data analyses were performed using Jamovi statistical software, and it was determined that the data followed a normal distribution. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were applied. Findings: The results indicated that 56.3% of participants experienced moderate levels of social media jealousy, while 15.7% experienced high levels. When demographic variables were examined, no significant differences were found in jealousy levels based on gender, relationship status, academic year, or relationship duration. However, income level created statistically significant differences in the total jealousy score and the “Respect and Trust in Social Media Space” sub-dimension. Specifically, students whose income was less than their expenses had higher social media jealousy scores. Conclusion: These findings suggest that social media influences jealousy in romantic relationships and that economic conditions may be a determining factor in this emotion. The study provides important data for understanding the complex effects of social media use on relationship dynamics and sheds light on the emotional experiences of university students in digital environments. Additionally, the results may serve as a basis for developing interventions aimed at enhancing communication and trust in romantic relationships.
