Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to outline the situation, condition, and functioning of contemporary Ukrainian poetry, prone to the processes of transformations since 1991 which is the time when Ukraine became independent. The author considers the present renaissance of Ukrainian art of poetry in the context of previous attempts to revitalize Ukrainian culture – in the 20s and 60s. The main direction of artistic research in the vast area from modernism to postmodernism is marked by different variants of the synthesis of living elements of national tradition and both local and foreign experiences of novice trends, exposing immanent characteristics and independence of word art. A unique phenomenon of contemporary panorama of Ukrainian art is a closer relation between local and foreign poets, representing various areas of Ukrainian diasporas, as well as activeness of all generation groups. Another significant phenomenon is coexistence of various styles – from neo-neoclassicism and neo-baroque poetics to different creative forms dealing with avant-garde, mythologism and surrealism or provoking with openness postmodernism.
