Summary/Abstract: This article presents aspects of the work of history enthusiast Julius Misselbacher from Sighisoara in the 1950s, when he made several historical models for various museums in Transylvania. Julius Misselbacher came from a renowned family with a commercial business in Sighisoara. Since the interwar period he was a collaborator of the Sighisoara museum. After the instauration of the communist regime in Romania, he was deprived of his property, arrested and pursued by the Securitate. However, his passion for history led him to make several historical models representing Sighisoara in 1735, the Battle of Albești/Sighisoara on 31 August 1849, and Mediaș in 1699; he also had a correspondence with the Museum of Alba Iulia for the making of a model of Alba Iulia in 1711. On this occasion he made investigations on the basis of historical cadastral maps concerning the location of the Romanian churches in Alba Iulia at the beginning of the 18th century. His entire activity in the field of cartography represents today an important scientific and pedagogical didactic material for the above-mentioned museums. The personality of Julius Misselbacher deserves to be studied in more detail, since archival sources can provide us with unpublished data on his research on history, and thus future generations will know much better aspects of the life and work of this man, whose activity was also oriented towards the service of history.
