Summary/Abstract: The subject of this study is a prominent personality of the city of Turda, unknown both to the reading public and to specialists, the doctor Virgil Cenariu. There is no material that has as its subject the investigation of his life and activity. He studied at the Faculty of Medicine in Cluj and obtained the title of Doctor of Medicine. This doctor dedicated most of his life to treating the physical sufferings of the inhabitants of Turda. He participated in the First World War, being the doctor of Regiment No. 31st Infantry from the Austro-Hungarian army. He stood out for his courage and spirit of sacrifice, receiving numerous decorations. In the interwar period, Virgil Cenariu was the first Romanian director of the hospital in Turda. He also got involved at the social level, participating in various events. The doctor Virgil Cenariu contributed decisively to the establishment of life in Turda on Romanian bases. From a religious point of view, doctor Cenariu was a believer of the Greek-Catholic Church. During the Second World War, Virgil Cenariu took care of the organization of the military hospital in Turda and the treatment of Romanian soldiers wounded on the front.
