Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we first identified genre hybridization as an extremely important part of Pekić's poetics, and therefore drew attention to the genre intertwining and coexistence of genres, considering it necessary for the interpretation and dealing with Pekić's novel Atlantis. In the rest of the paper, we pointed out the methods Pekić uses to deconstruct genres and highlighted the shifts and deviations the writer made in relation to the genre definitions of the detective story. Following the plot of the novel, we presented the complexity of the investigations conducted within the detective story genre and showed that they are present at various levels, starting from the investigation of a murder to the survival of all humanity.
