Summary/Abstract: In my paper, within the framework of a thought experiment, I compare the writings of Romanticism, especially the Schlegel brothers, with the artworks and theoretical writings of Wassily Kandinsky and the outstanding artist of German Expressionism, Franz Marc. My aim is to point out how the philosophical-aesthetic aspirations of the German Romantic era could have an impact on the visual arts of modernity.
