Summary/Abstract: The sociological imagination is the effort to bring the effort of thinking into the social memory; in a sense, it is the writing of the history of the present. Everything that is envisioned about human beings also encompasses sociality in a sense. As social institutions, religion, law, politics, education, health, etc. are all the result of public consensus, unity of opinion and a collective consciousness. Society maintains the foundations of its existence, its realities and the meaning of social life through these institutions. Therefore, public preference determines the direction of individuals in life, and mass acceptance constitutes objective truths and social realities. Today, on the other hand, social reality is constructed through perception outside the usual historical and social accumulation. Here, the political institution is more active and dominant than other social elements. This is because the political mechanism is able to create religious, national and ethnic populisms by using its democratic legitimacy, power and authority in order to make it permanent. In order to mobilize large masses, some politicized social groups are made functional. These groups, which can be characterized as troll armies, constantly circulate politically motivated and professionally designed content on virtual platforms. The media and its derivatives are other tools that are used extensively in shaping mass psychology. In this article, it is aimed to discuss and summarize the relationship between post-truth, religion and society from a theoretical perspective. In this study, in which qualitative method is used, data sources and documents in the literature were collected for the purpose of literature review; finally, the information obtained was tried to be analyzed from a sociological perspective. The research is limited to the post-truth era as a sociological phenomenon and its religious social expansions. Our study primarily focuses on the objectivity of the relationship between “truth” and social reality. In addition, an effort has been made to show the misleading effects of the post-truth era, which is the subject of current debates on human and society. In order to contribute to the originality of the article, post-truth, which is widely discussed in the fields of politics, media and communication, has been tried to be discussed from the perspective of the relationship between religion and society. Finally, it has been pointed out how religion, which gives meaning to social life, has been transformed into an instrumental “loss of truth” with the post-truth period and its consequences.
