Summary/Abstract: Although Schelling’s scattered and fragmentary writings on political philosophy have received much attention recently, the intrinsic connection between Schelling’s political convictions and his philosophy of mythology and revelation, which he elaborated in the last decades of his life, has hardly been discussed. In my view, even the theogonic-cosmogonic speculations, which seem far removed from social reality, imply a clear political credo: Schelling’s late political philosophy and his ontology (his theory of potencies) are mutually dependent and determine each other. In my study, I attempt to clarify this connection.
