Summary/Abstract: The article is a step in the study of the all-Balkan lexicon of Slavic origin in Albanian, Greek and Romanian. Our aim is to show the intra-linguistic semantic transformations of common Slavisms in each of these languages. The analysis of the semantic adaptation of Slavisms in the Balkan standard languages raises the question of re-evaluating the place of the lexicon in the supersystem of the Balkan linguistic union. The conclusion of A.V. Desnitskaya that the lexicon of each Balkan language is a combination of genetically inherited lexemes and numerous foreign language elements is corroborated. However, the diversity of loanwords in the Balkan languages is also characterized by a high degree of uniformity, established in the course of long ethnocultural and linguistic contacts.
