Summary/Abstract: The participation of women in sports plays a significant role in shaping social values and the educational process, particularly in the field of physical education. Although historically women have been marginalized in sports due to gender stereotypes and societal norms, recent research increasingly confirms the importance of sports in the development of girls and young women. Sport is not only a physical activity but also a powerful educational tool for strengthening self-confidence, teamwork, discipline, and resilience to challenges. From a pedagogical perspective, the educational system and sports programs should actively encourage girls to participate in sports by creating an inclusive environment that reduces gender disparities. Unfortunately, social prejudices still influence the perception of women's sports, often placing it in the background compared to men's sports. In this context, educators, coaches, and parents play a crucial role in supporting female athletes, promoting equal opportunities, and breaking down barriers. The integration of sports content into educational programs contributes to the development of motor, cognitive, and social skills, while also shaping positive attitudes toward physical activity later in life. Therefore, it is essential to implement systematic educational programs that promote women's participation in sports and ensure equal conditions for their development in both professional and amateur sports. The paper provides a systematic and structured overview of the main characteristics of the subject, and through an in-depth analysis of the social and pedagogical dimensions of women's participation in sport, it clearly demonstrates that sport is not merely a domain of physical activity, but also a powerful mechanism for social change. Although some progress has been made in increasing the visibility and inclusion of women in sports, obstacles such as stereotypes, underrepresentation in the media, and unequal access to resources still persist. Accordingly, the paper offers recommendations for improving the current situation and concludes that action must be taken on multiple levels – educational, institutional, and societal.
