Summary/Abstract: The problem of perception of A. Platonov’s works by Swedish readers is considered. The anthology “14 Soviet Writers”, published in Sweden in 1929, was the subject of our research. This publication became the fi rst acquaintance of the Swedish readers with the A. Platonov’s works. The book included the story “Origin of the Master” in translation by Y. Rivkin and D. Brikk. This source is introduced into scientifi c circulation for the fi rst time. Close attention is paid to the historical and literary situation in the Soviet Union and Sweden in 1920–1930. Perception of the Soviet literature (A. Platonov, I. Babel, V. Inber, V. Ivanova etc.) by the Swedes is revealed. The reasons of enormous interest to the Russian literature of this period, inclusive of Platonov’s prose, are provided. The author identifi ed the structure, the subject, and anthology of the “14 Soviet writers” poetics. The role that the story “Origins of the Master” plays in the problem-thematic composition of the novel is identifi ed. Analysis of the title translation into Swedish is provided.
