Summary/Abstract: My study is based on the assumption that, although the socialising impact of films is undeniably primary today, little is said about it in the literature on film theory, pedagogy and psychology. I will present and analyse an implemented project that used film as film (and not just the story) in the training of prospective health workers (physiotherapists and nurses) in the context of career socialisation. Cristi Puiu’s multiple award-winning film The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu (Moartea domnului Lăzărescu, 2005) was used as the basis for a professional empathy training, which aimed to model situations in the clinical setting in a safe way, using a variety of methods, giving space to cognitive and emotional responses to the film’s scenes, before the students started practicing their learned profession. As a result of the course, the processing of the film using receptive and expressive methods helped to raise awareness and personal integration of emotional responses and moral attitudes.
