Summary/Abstract: Known as a poet and novelist, İlhan's power of description, stands out in his use of words related to colors, and the novel Kurtlar Sofrası presents the reader with a world of colors adorned with rich and unconventional associations. The aim of this study is to reveal color names consisting of a single word such as kırmızı, kıpkırmızı, kırmızılık as well as color names based on simile such as tuğla kırmızısı, karga siyahı and to contribute to vocabulary studies by determining how many of these are included in the standard language. In order to determine the place of names based on simile among colors, all the color names in the work were compiled and names such as kırmızı, kızıl, çelik rengi were accepted as color name; names such as füzen siyahı, ısırgan kırmızı where the color name is used together with a simile element were accepted as color tone. The colors used in the novel are classified according to the color name and the color tones are given under the relevant color name. It has been determined that a significant part of the color names and tones used in the novel, which is observed to be quite rich in color variation, are not included in Güncel Türkçe Sözlük. Color expressions not included in the dictionary were accepted as temporary color names. In the study, the concept of color, colors in Turkish vocabulary and naming of colors are discussed, and then the color names and tones in Kurtlar Sofrası are given.
