Summary/Abstract: The study aims to examine virtual communities as a hub of people sharing a common passion and cause, by paying particular attention to cyberspace as a field of expression and as a means of mobilising civic activism. A specific object of study is the virtual group “Freedom for Hemp (and other things) Social club”. The paper explores the nature and activities of the Facebook group, its rules, the civic movements and events connected to it based on a field study on the community, including its virtual and physical manifestations, and discusses their relation to the overall Bulgarian reality.
