Summary/Abstract: The article deals with a premeditated and particularly cruel murder committed in a Hungarian city a decade and a half ago, committed by juvenile offenders. The motive for the crime was sought by the police, prosecutors, psychologists, the forensic psychiatrist and the court. They were unable to discover a reason that could be understood with human reason, the defendants only indicated that the friendship of their third companion was annoying to them. The article discusses emotional intelligence deficiencies and antisocial personality disorder. The article also includes the reasoning behind not only the criminal verdicts, but also the second-instance civil verdict in the non-pecuniary compensation case of the parents of the murdered 17-year-old boy. The civil verdict states that parents have a duty to teach their children, among other things, mercy, grace, compassion and pity during their moral education. The article also discusses prevention options, including teaching children skills to manage emotions, such as better frustration tolerance and anger management.
