Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the relationship between folklore and cultural security. Since the nineteenth century, the discipline of folklore has undergone significant evolution in parallel with social, economic, political, and technological changes and the resulting cultural transformations across the globe. This enables folklorists to observe and document processes of change and transformation on a global scale. In other words, the subjects that fall within the scope of folklore research and examination have become reflections of contemporary cultural conditions. In this context, folklore serves as a witness to cultural history, both at the national and international levels, while also ensuring the preservation of humanity's cultural heritage. In the context of national cultures, the significance of folklore as a means of preserving cultural heritage and resisting threats such as homogenization, extinction, and the erosion of cultural identity due to globalization, particularly in the context of economic and digital transformations, becomes paramount. One of the concepts that has emerged from these processes and entered the research field of various social sciences is that of cultural security. From recent history to the present day, the political, military, economic, and cultural conditions of the world have given rise to a new security paradigm. The traditional understanding of security has undergone a transformation, with the concept acquiring dimensions that extend beyond the military framework. In this context, the article seeks to elucidate the contribution of folklore to cultural security at the local, national, and international levels and to underscore the significance of folklore studies in this regard. In order to gain insight into the subject matter, the document analysis technique was employed, and a review of national and international literature was conducted. In order to ensure a focused analysis, the conceptual framework of the study is limited to key concepts such as social sciences, folklore, security, and cultural security. The article's analyses and discussions reveal that the products and content within folklore, along with new methods such as applied folklore studies, can play a pivotal role in the development of cultural security frameworks. This elevates folklore to a pivotal position, extending beyond its traditional role as a social science that documents and examines cultural contexts and products in people's lives. Instead, it is now recognised as a vital component in the safeguarding of national and international cultural security within the evolving security paradigm.
