Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to investigate the role of banking system in Romanian economy, in 2008-2023 period, focusing on the interlinkages between bank deposit, bank credit and interest rates. Additionally, this paper analyzes the financial intermediation of banking system (measured by domestic credit to private sector by banks as % of GDP) in Romanian economy and its contribution to economic growth and development.
