Summary/Abstract: When there is a diversion of Islam into political waters, including violence, the media narrative speaks of a distortion of Islam that has nothing to do with politics, so part of the scientific discourse also speaks of the abuse of the Islamic religion as »political Islam« (Islamism). Based on Boris Havel’s research, this paper aims to question whether this is really so. The first hypothesis is to see whether there, in fact, is a »non-political Islam.« The second is whether Islam is a tolerant religion towards the »people of the Book« (Judaism and Christianity) throughout history and today. Havel deals with the issue of Islam with a methodology that relies on Islamic canonical sources while avoiding journalistic opinions about Islam, especially those that reflect the Western understanding of religion, politics, religious freedom, and democracy in the Islamic world, beyond political correctness or incorrectness, adhering to a strictly scientific methodology and not ideology, that is, an interpretation of Islam that does not correspond to what Islam itself says about itself.
