DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVES OF INTERNATIONAL TOURISMWITH EMPHASIS ON THE TOURISM SECTOR IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Summary/Abstract: Since second half of twentieth century tourism has been expended largely. It can be concluded on the basis of number of people who travel abroad. For the first time in history number of tourist in 2012 surpassed 1 billion. The expansion of tourism is reflected in the realized tourist traffic, as well as the functions of tourism (cultural, political, health, social, etc.). Bosnia and Herzegovina is an interesting tourist destination, but the B&H tourism sector is underdeveloped. Generally, there is no enough awareness of the importance and influence of tourism sector to the economy and society. This paper, among others, points out to the shortcomings and obstacles need to be overcome in order to enable the further development and strengthening of the tourism sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
