Summary/Abstract: Negotiation is the primary alternative dispute resolution, a dialogue intended to produce an agreement upon courses of action, or to craft outcomes to satisfy various interests. Negotiation occurs in business, government branches, legal proceedings, among nations, and also in everyday life. Having presented the different techniques and theories regarding the art of negotiating, Professor Liviu Zapartan stresses the importance of negotiation in a cross-cultural, cross-national, wired world. He also discusses negotiation from the standpoint of several critical areas like our understanding of culture, the ways in which cultural change is precipitated by globalization, and its role in defining personal and communal identity.
