Summary/Abstract: This article challenges the view that contradictions in Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey prove multiple authorship, comparing them instead to similar inconsistencies found in Serbian epic poetry. The author argues that such contradictions are common in oral tradition due to the spontaneous, non-written nature of popular poetry, and thus do not disqualify a single poet like Homer. In the second part, the text addresses various unresolved or contradictory claims about the Roman-era history of South Slavic lands, criticizing unreliable ancient sources and calling for cautious interpretation of historical and linguistic evidence.
