Summary/Abstract: In the narrative Rien ne résiste à Romica by Valérie Rodrigue, we follow a poignant investigative reportage—the existential journey of a young Romanian Roma woman, Romica, in France. At the same time, it could also be seen as a brilliant doctoral thesis in applied, practical sociology. Though it isn’t a novel (even if the names have been changed), the raw beauty of this book seems torn directly from real life. Yet, due to the distance created by writing and style, one might also read it as a work of fiction.
