A LOOK AT THEATRE PLAYS ABOUT KOSOVO

Summary/Abstract: This text discusses the development of Kosovo-themed drama in Serbian literature, beginning in the early 19th century as an expression of national awakening and admiration for Kosovo heroes. It highlights how various playwrights like Sima Milutinović, Jovan Sterija Popović, Matija Ban, and others contributed to dramatizing the Kosovo myth, often shaped by contemporary political movements and national ideals. The author argues that among all the characters, Miloš Obilić stands out as the true tragic hero of the Kosovo drama due to his internal conflict, moral strength, and willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good of the Serbian people.
