Summary/Abstract: The approach of the Red Army to the pre-war borders of the Third Reich in1944 brought its eastern regions into the reach of Soviet Long-Range Aviation. As a result,on 7 October, 1944, 196 Soviet bombers appeared over Breslau (Wrocław) and attackedthe city with 210.9 tonnes of bombs. It was the first mass air raid on the capital of LowerSilesia.
