Summary/Abstract: In 2018, the most prestigious award for original Slovak prose, the Anasoft Litera, was awarded to the collection of short stories Jedenie by Vojvodina Rusyn author Ivan Medeši. The presented study analyzes the fundamental poetological and axiological specifics of the book, as well as the process of its introduction into the context of contemporary Slovak prose. The collection Jedenie comes from a specific cultural and linguistic area. It had to be translated into standard Slovak from Vojvodina Rusyn language, which is etymologically and formally related to the Eastern-Slovak Zemplín dialect. At the same time, it introduces new impulses to contemporary Slovak prose, especially at the level of narration and language.
