Summary/Abstract: This article examines the evolution of the priest's role in administering the sacrament of Confirmation in the Latin Church between the 1917 and 1983 Codes of Canon Law. It traces the gradual expansion of priestly authority in this area, highlighting key documents like the decree *Spiritus Sancti munera* and the *Ordo Confirmationis*, and analyzes the differences between the two Codes' provisions regarding extraordinary ministers of Confirmation. The author discusses the factors that led to these changes, such as the experiences of World War II and the Second Vatican Council.
