Summary/Abstract: The article discusses how 21st-century societes may benefit from and ‘use’ the Humanities (and, more strictly, Shakespeare studies) for the common good, and is based on examples taken from international and Hungarian contexts as well as the author’s personal experience. In our rapidly changing, increasingly digital and virtual, media-saturated world individuals and communities face new problems. This calls for new answers that may be provided by the Humanities, offering useful strategies via teaching or creative and community-building activities.
