Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of discourse and its diverse types. The authors refer to the interdisciplinary nature of modern research and note that the concept of discourse has a wide range of meanings and is used in various scientific disciplines. The focus is on the subject-oriented approach to the concept of discourse. In the article, typological definitions of discourse are based on the postulate of the subjective determinacy of language choice determined by pragmatic factors. The focus of the study is on the analysis of discourse in the institutional context. Particular attention is paid to pedagogical discourse, which is considered as one of the types of discourse with specific characteristics. Pedagogical discourse, being a complex and multicomponent phenomenon, is interpreted by researchers in various theoretical aspects, which indicates its importance for understanding the processes of communication in the educational space. The article examines in detail various approaches to the classification of subtypes of pedagogical discourse. Particular attention is paid to educational, educational-pedagogical and didactic discourse.
