Summary/Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has been playing havoc on a global scale and the armed forces’ involvement in civilprotection became a necessity, especially in the periods when the pandemic reached its peaks. Referring to that situation thepaper discusses: the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and its development in Poland, the adaptation of the security servicesand the recommendations to support civil protection during the biological threat. The discussion is based on the analysis of theCOVID-19 pandemic development in Poland. I t refers to statistics, reports, experience, empirical study on cooperation of theTerritorial Defence Force and medical personnel to identify the areas for improvement and recommend the solutions for moresustainable civil protection. The military units can be a crucial operational element that supports civ il medical and sanitaryservices. The legal basis and procedures adapted to the changing security environment can considerably enhance its operationaleffectiveness.
