Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses representations of the transgenerational trauma transmission process of female Holocaust survivors in the documentary film *Born in Auschwitz* (2020) by Eszter Cseke and András S. Takács. While the film does indeed reveal a three-generation case history, it also engages in the clash of views within the family, which raises a number of ethical questions for the film’s viewer. The paper will first briefly outline the transgenerational case story in the film, which is presented in the storytelling in conjunction with the female problem of childbirth and childrearing. Second, it shows how the film creates spaces for the unfolding of memories at the level of the characters, and finally, it examines the use of documentary representational devices in specific scenes that become memory spaces for the viewer. The thesis of the analysis is that through the creative use of archival documents, the film creates a cinematic space of memory not only for the characters but also for the viewer, who becomes involved in the film’s conflict resolution. In the film, the birth motif becomes synonymous with survival for both the characters and the viewer, reflecting on the mode of existence of the experience of survival, its unstoppable repetition, and the mutability of repetition.
