Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with some non-official inhabitants names that occur in the communication of the inhabitants of villages in the bilingual Slovak-Hungarian district of Galanta. Since non-official inhabitants’ names as pendants to their standardized forms are considered to be a very specific kind of propriums, whose narrative value is important not only for onomastics, but also for other interdisciplinary research, in the first part of the paper we pay attention to the theoretical definition of non-official names and their anchoring in the framework of onomastic terminology. The second part of the paper deals with the semantic (and in some cases etymological) analysis of those non-official inhabitant names, which we obtained by our own heuristic research. The analysis also includes the captured folk-etymological interpretations. For each analyzed non-official name of the inhabitants, we also offer the current standardized form of the name of the inhabitants of the given village.
