Summary/Abstract: The study in question is a theoretical-empirical research probe into the issue of professionalisms as a specific, stylistically and socially determined section of the lexicon of the contemporary Slovak language. We intentionally correlate the category of professionalisms with the phenomenon of inclusion (inclusiveness), which, due to the influence of various global (supranational) policies, has currently become one of the most frequent concepts in the social and human sciences. Although professionalisms as non terminological substitutes for originally terminological words used in unofficial or semi-official communication among experts in a specific production or scientific field primarily excite social exclusion in relation to other communities, from a pragmatic perspective they are potentially an inclusive element, since in the analyzed sectors it is an essential interest of members of these professional communities to be understood by non-experts. Professional speech thus acquires the status of inclusiveness in the context of deliberated interaction of speakers from various communicative formations with regard to their social and economic satisfaction.
